Attendee Feedback: Wants
- Meetups w/ other Scouts & guardians
- in space like arena or jam pod before sound check
- space with separate or collaborative parent and kid activity
- Makerspace
- Tabletop dedicated tables
- Provided kid-focused content
- Improv?
- Videogame History Foundation?
- more for 12+ crowd
Staff Feedback
- Pins didn't get the adoption expected. Probably did not know it was available and pin
maker way more popular than expected
- Too much on scavenger hunt and not well defined to get a prize
- Maybe make it geographically?
- Better messaging to attendees and staff
- Breaking into sections like Casey's playing, making, watching
- Everything was late!
- Needs better and earlier advertising both external and internal
Future Discussion
- Need more delineated age targeted content. 10 year old thought he was
too cool
- tracks for different age ranges like scouts do?
- Jr's older sister Eclaire
- Worried about building content with empty boxes. Focus on identifying existing content
- May be worth having names and levels instead of age ranges
- CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
- Give parents ability to make informed choices
- One goal is stuff for younger people can still be fun and
cool for you
- Appropriate for kids but also engaging for adults is one of the cores
of what we considered for MAGLabs and we've been continuing to
consider for Maker Space
- Identify what you will be doing?
- Playing, Making, Watching
- Different tracks and levels on that track - novice, advanced,
etc.
- At the last MAGLabs we came up with "Play, Learn,
Create, Rock" as our motto
- This might be the year that we have a more regular
streaming presence, if there’s something relevant we could do
- “sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something”
- Science and art: you fail a WHOLE LOT and eventually figure out something
really smart.
- Guidebook tags
- Add an opt-in checkbox for panelists - pre-warned they will be tagged
- Music is telling performers it's PG-15 and if they'll have explicit
content, it's later and MAGtv can be warned
- collaborate with panels/MAGES? here are some panels specifically for
this
