Attendees: Nate, Jared, Sarah, Nate G., Casey, Luigi, Dave, Lauren
Agenda:
- Action item review
- Next Steps for content policies / internal outreach
- Branding / Assets
- New Business
Minutes:
- Action item review
- Nate: Jam Clinic and Music - Music is interested, but the parts that are interested don’t have a submission process that would benefit (Jam Space, Jam Clinic)
- Jam Clinic doesn’t need a meeting with us, all their content except karaoke is safe
- Lauren:
- Talk to Hotel Team about possibility of changing lights during event
- Per Colette, this can be done, we would just need to know when, and what light level we want - would want to pre-plan this during setup with the participating halls doing this.
- Buy-in from Arcades and Expo C
- Reach out to Tech Ops + Bremma about plug and play for jumbotron (Junior fanart version of Cats of MAG), and also MAGtv
- Pre-planned is totally doable. We would need to talk to whoever in techops is running the broadcast then provide the media in a GDrive. Bremma is happy to help and show us how she put together Pets of MAG.
- Doing it live during the event would require more coordination with Mark Murnane
Nate or Lauren:
PSA post in department heads that we made a thing they can use next Super (the content guidelines) and we’re available for questions
- Next Steps for content policies / internal outreach
- We will post in department head channel and people will come to us
- For all these drop in whenever for whatever, what about throwing together a kid-friendly “start here” list? Like a poster or something.
- Casey: Pipe dream: What about a decal that could be easily applied and removed?
- Nate: Post-it notes for arcade games? or just a little map or quick-start list
- Sarah: Tabletop has stand-up acrylics. We could use those in Consoles to easily swap out. Also Arcade could have a list or a map marked with scout-approved games
- These one pagers could also go in our guidebook page
- Branding / Assets
- Need to be easily recognizable for traction and wayfinding - how to get to magscouts content
- the more cohesive it is, the more useful it will be for attendees to use and find, and the easier it will be for other departments to grab
- Do we like the image we have or do we need to tweak/replace/add?
- Do we need a simplified version that can be read across the room?
- Sarah: Switch to cell shading for a simplified palette
- Need a Design Doc?
- A style guide would be helpful
- Do we have a visually distinct style if there is no Junior?
- Rocking out a color palette and typeface is key for branding. Whether that is a generic one we use for out of the event is a down the line issue. Can do this now or follow whatever the event theme and style guide is.
- Everyone agrees on moving with generics so we are easily identifiable
- 3 primary colors and 2 secondary for good contrast
- need to look good on both black and white
- Adobe fonts are good for typeface because Sarah already has the license. Google fonts are also good because open source.
- want a serif and san serif
- Patch palette and one used in MAGCon slides was good. Can tweak for accessibility from there
- Patches
- We love ‘em. We want ‘em. Make all of them happen
- We could sell them. An inexpensive alternative to stuff in the vendor hall
- Offer as a sticker upgrade for a donation to Child’s Play. House this in the Charity section if they’re open to it
- Quotes from last year: Last year’s full embroidered was 93 cents per patch at 500 quantity. $1 and change for 300 quantity
- This means we could totally get like a $5 dono
- Stickers
- Sarah would like to redesign them to be circular
- We should probably figure out how many we went through last year
Other business:
- When we should meet next
- Public Safety wanted to talk about Scouts stuff
- They’re going to make sure they have kid-targeted band-aids and such and also make sure people on shift know how to give first aid to kids without scaring them
- We have a quiet room, but what about a ‘Not Quiet’ room? A ‘Big Feelings’ room
- Nate directed them towards Accessibility for this
- Bunch of them have kids and also think it would be rad to have a non-staffed meetup thing
- Sarah suggested Coffee and Mario Kart (BYO kid and coffee)
- Panels often has little to no content in early hours
- Casey: “Kart & Koffee: Some Assembly Required”
