Initiative Kickoffs!

• Initiative Heads received messages with their list of interested staffers
  • Note that some people signed up for EVERYTHING, so not everyone necessarily will contribute
• All initiatives have a discord channel, if you don’t see one for yours, talk to Nate or ping Mods in #staff

Reviewed each initiatives goals with the heads - only documenting any additions/questions here:

• contractor coordination
  • added at-event work as POC for truck logistics
• curation MIVS
  • added a goal to automate preflight
• game jam
  • still in Matt’s hands this year
• guest coordinator -
  • sidebar - travis to follow up with guests dept, nate to slack guests heads bc no response to list of proposals
• internal training -
  • DHs need to go thru the feedback form and see if theres anything we need to give to this team to write up
• merch
  • big undertaking, lots of lessons learned from last year. win conditions include square being pre-prepared, a plan for the layout/organization of the merch booth and any equipment needs
• school groups -
  • meet and discuss with dhs what we’ve done in past years
  • do we have a list of school groups we’ve worked with before
  • could we get schools involved in the game jam?
• zine -
  • printing plan for the current years?
  • we bulk print the previous years

Things that aren’t on this list:

• awards - need to have a larger conversation about if we’re supporting awards at an initiative level, or if we’d prefer to put that effort into an EPK/creating more visible value for being a MAGFest Indies “official selection” (aka a benefit every accepted game could take to the bank with)
• magazine - added, has no lead at the moment

So you’re a lead - meetings/expectations:

• You are empowered to run with your initatives! Talk to your teams! Use the discord channels, have your own meetings if you need to.
• We’re going to have regular cadence meetings (biweekly?), but consider those DH office hours, we’ll do checkins and find blockers/bring you our questions as they come up, but you don’t have to wait for meetings to update us or get things cooking.
• no expectation to make every meeting, just post an initiative update to us when you can’t
• document whatever you’re working on!
  • tbd if we’re using the notion, google drive, both. Will add everyone to the relevant space when it is set!
