Discussion:
- The road so far…
- We submitted a budget!
- The org loves what we’re doing, but would like to wait until we have the strategic plan in hand before making a decision on how they want to handle youth content going forward so stay the course and keep doing what we’re doing, but don’t add a lot new
- Big goals for this year are to continue initiatives and push a few over the finish line that didn’t quite make it last year aka same scope, tighten up operations
- For tracking tasks and stuff, Slack now has project tracking integrated. Sarah has found this helpful for Guests dept and would not mind owning creating this for Scouts
- For getting departments involved, getting face-to-face or voice-to-voice meetings are key
- Another school group?
- The org thinks this falls under Cralls and the Education Initiative, but it may be worth staying hands on with it since it aligns and
- Initiative interest:
- Style guide/branding - Sarah
- Meetup Panel - Dave
- Department Tracking - wrangle us to wrangle departments
- Activity Book - Jinx
- Attendee Communication - publishing newsletter, socials, website, etc. type stuff - Casey and probably Sophia. Sarah can help with scope.
- Merch - Sarah
- School visitors - Nate will talk to Cralls
- New stuff
- Casey with a PSA:
- Got 2 proposals approved for Experimentation Fund
- Not sure if relevant for this current year of MAGScouts, but want to share for future usage
- MAGcademy - building classes for volunteers on info like new volunteer orientation, new DH orientation, etc. with the idea of future attendee facing courses. Could have MAGScouts course with content available for qualifying attendees
- MAGchievements - recognition for volunteers with idea to move to attendee facing. Different track like gaming, music, etc. Where you could earn digital badges that could be traded for in-person rewards. If this gets off the ground, would like to see about a MAGScouts track. This would ideally run alongside something like the activity book instead of taking away from in-person.
- Timeline?
- Pencil in a new content drop dead date of Dec 1
- Brand Guide - individual elements won’t change. What Sarah would like to work on is writing up our tone and how we communicate
Action Items:
- We should talk to Deb and/or reg about whether or not junior badge policy is changing
- Find someone to own the dept content tracking initiative 👀
