If your department manages third-party badges, please ensure you read the information below and review any outliers before registration opens to make sure they have the right boxes checked in Uber. This will make your life much easier onsite, as well as the lives of Registration staff and your third-party partners.

As of 2024, ribbons are no longer used as access control tools by Super MAGFest. Instead, there are two stickers that may be applied by Registration (or in some cases, STOPS) to the back of each badge that will indicate any special access privileges tied to that badge. Ribbons are still used by individual departments for informational purposes (it is still helpful to know that a person is an indie dev, panelist, DH, etc.) but they do not grant access/privileges anymore at an event-wide level.

Access Stickers

Since these stickers represent security access, Registration WILL NOT provide stickers to anyone who does not have the corresponding checkbox marked in Uber. It is their job to enforce our policies based on what’s recorded in the system–please do not argue with Reg staff if this happens to you onsite! If it does happen, it is up to the relevant DH either to go in and update the attendee record in Uber, or to accompany the person in need to Registration (the DH should bring their own ID). While Registration may attempt to contact people on Slack where possible, please understand their managers are extremely busy and may not be able to wait for a response before moving onto another attendee who needs their help.

DO NOT ADD ACCESS PRIVILEGES TO ANY BADGE THAT DOES NOT ACTUALLY NEED THEM. Having special access is cool and all, but supporting the safety & security of our guests and respecting the workspace of your fellow staffers is even cooler. (Also, we can see when people do this, so please just don't.)

These privileges exist for your convenience while staffing. Please only utilize them when you are actively on shift or headed to a shift. If you're off duty, you should follow the “normal” rules for doors, food & drink, being backstage, etc. In other words, don’t expect your sticker to get you out of trouble if you decide to play DDR while sipping your 44oz Slurpee. Be cool and be courteous to fellow staffers checking doors!

Ribbons

Ribbons are currently ordered by the office on behalf of the following departments. Any additional ribbon needs should be managed independently by departments using pre-approved budget funds; please reach out to [email protected] before designing/ordering any new ribbons to ensure that there are no conflicting needs. NOTE: as of Super 2025, we have transitioned to 3" ribbons for event purposes.
