The MIVS Culture is something that has to be cultivated and practiced.
Department Leads are setting the tone and goals of the MIVS Department - it's shown in how you react to something like a setback.
Remember:
- It's all about the attendees. Without them, there is no MAGFest.
- MIVS Leads, which Support → MIVS Staff, which Supports → MIVS Volunteers, which Support → Indies, which support → MAGFest Attendees
General Order of Operations
Below is the general order of operations and to-dos that need to be completed during a MIVS cycle. Some items can be taken care of ahead of where they are listed below. The earlier you can complete tasks, the more time you have to refine or iterate on new ideas.
At Start of the Year:
- [ ] Review previous year’s expenses and create the new budget
- [ ] Remove any emails specifically made for last year
- [ ] Create Drive folder for the upcoming year
- [ ] Duplicate Handbook
- [ ] Duplicate surveys for the upcoming year
- [ ] Duplicate Indie Quiz
- [ ] Duplicate Volunteer Training
- [ ] Review staff’s availability for the upcoming cycle and identify holes in staffing needs
- [ ] Reach out to volunteers who expressed interest in pre-event work and/or submit a request to STOPS to add a recruitment post to the MAGFest website
