Welcome to the Super MAGFest Jampods Department

Thanks for showing interest in joining our department!  The Jampods Department manages the MAG-approved hallway jam spaces throughout the Gaylord during Super MAGFest. Pre-event, we plan potential new jampods or remove problem locations.  At-event, we monitor jampods to ensure that attendees are following guidelines (both event and jampod specific) and we may be called on to shut down jampods that are breaking these guidelines.  Be advised, you may occasionally be required to interact with unruly attendees or call security.

Department Communication Channels

In Slack, we use the #super-jampods channel to verify shifts, leave notes, or to ping a Department Head.  You can also use the [email protected] email address to reach out to the Department Heads. At-event, you will be provided a radio on shift that will be used to contact Security or the Department Head on duty.  Channel numbers will be pinned in #super-jampods during the event.

Event Info

PRE-EVENT

Jampods only briefly discuss potential layout changes pre-event. As a result, we do not require Staffers and Managers to perform any work outside of the event.

AT-EVENT

Layout/Set-up

Jampods are located at various locations throughout the Gaylord and may change year to year.  Currently, we have 4 Jampods during Super MAGFest.  Set-up is performed by the Department Head(s) on Wednesday and includes spike taping the jampod areas, setting up signage and tables (if applicable).

Hours of Operation

Jampods are open for the full duration of Super MAGFest, 24 hours a day.  They may be shut down as necessary to facilitate Gaylord or MAG requirements.

Sign-in/Sign-Out Procedures

Signups for Staff shifts open a few months prior to the event.  Shifts will be available in two (2) hour increments from 8am to 2am Thursday through Saturday and 8am to Noon on Sunday.Check-in and out for shifts will be via a check-in sheet within the Department Binder located at Jam Clinic.

Work/Shift Expectations

Jampods Staff and Volunteers will be responsible for knowing the Jampod rules and to enforce them during the event.  As this is an attendee-facing role, good communication skills and the ability to handle confrontation is key.  The shift requirements include being on your feet and walking for the majority of the duration.  If you wish to volunteer and have any accessibility needs that would conflict with this, please let us know and we will work to accommodate you in our Department.
