Social Media Values
Inherited Core Values from MAGFest INC
As the foremost point of interaction with our attendees between events, we are responsible for continuing to deliver and uphold the Core Values of the greater body of MAGFest. Below we have described our inherited values.
Sincerity
- Our outfacing interactions need to be legitimate and authentic. We are striving to bring together like minded people. They will be attracted to something that resonated with their values.
Participation
- Participation is something we should be striving for with all our posts, not chasing likes and retweets/shares. People should be able to (and want to) reply back to our posts and share their feelings. Not all our posts need to be announcements. Some posts can be used to feel out our audience. This allows them to feel as though they made an impact on our event programming. The ultimate participation.
Community
- This is pretty obvious. Social Media is how we stay in contact with the thousands of people who attend MAG events throughout the year while we are in between events. We need to carry on that feeling of community even during down time.
Proposed Additional Values
Tone: Are we Wendy's or Arbys?
- Neither! But for the sake of the argument we should be aiming to be more like Arbys. We are not looking to build a brand of witty one-offs and snippy replies. Like us, Arbys celebrates gaming by showcasing something they made to honor it. Sound familiar? However, we need to be sure to have our own voice. We exist in a circle all our own. Let's act like it.
- That being said, occasional snark is fine. ;)
