Where do I get help?
Security: will be available in the Silicon Valley room from 9am-2am Friday and Saturday, and from 9am-4pm on Sunday.
Channels we’d recommend joining and what kinds of requests go where:
- #west-general (General announcements relating to the whole event). If you have a question you don't know who to ask, this is also an appropriate place for it. Make sure you keep the discussion in thread, though! We'd like to keep this channel mostly clear for visibility on announcements.
- #west-stops (Staffing Related - Includes Staff Rooms). STOPS is located in the Board Room (across from room 259 on the second floor)
- #west-hotel-requests (Hotel Related - NOT Staff Rooms). All posts here should include an issue and a location, so that Hotel team can address it efficiently.
- #west-tech-requests (Technical Needs). Tech Ops is located in the Zinfandel Room, across from room 267.
- #west-security (any security issues). Security will also be located in the Silicon Valley Room (second floor at the top of the spiral staircase)
Most of these channels have adopted an 👀 ✅ approach to requests. If you get 👀, that means that your question/request has been seen. Once it's been fulfilled, you'll get a ✅. That might vary from channel to channel, but they generally follow the same pattern.
What other slack channels should I keep an eye on?
Channels we'd recommend joining for fun and feedback are:
- #west-feedback: feedback on anything event-related. Sometimes it's helpful to post notes here during the event while it’s fresh in your mind.
- #shoutouts: If you see someone (or a department/team) doing something great - let them know!
- #west-chat: For general chatter during the event, we prefer folks use this channel. Feel free to share memes, photos, and general anecdotes for other staffers and those who aren't able to make it out!
- #west-noms: For coordination of any large food orders. We will announce MAG-provided meals in official channels, but if you'd like to organize a large taco/boba/grocery run, this is the place for that!
