What is a Board of Directors and why does MAGFest have one?

MAGFest is a 501(c)(3) organization. One of the things a 501(c)(3) needs to stay in compliance is a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is the governing body of a nonprofit. Individuals who sit on the board are responsible for overseeing the organization’s activities. Board members meet periodically to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization. (source)

501(c)(3) tax-exemptions apply to entities that are organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes, for testing for public safety, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, for the prevention of cruelty to children, women, or animals.
